Types of Training
Training can be easily customized to cover the topics you specify. Popular GetOpenOffice.org courses include:

  • A one-hour "just the basics" orientation to the entire program, preceding the training class itself.

  • A one-day class on the basics of the entire program: general setup plus Writer, Calc, and  Impress and Draw. The Core Office Suite workbook is used.

  • An intensive one- or two-day class covering all major aspects of one of the applications: Writer, Calc, or Impress and Draw. The Comprehensive workbook for Writer, Calc, or Impress/Draw is used.

Rates for On-Site Training
You can provide a full day of training with workbook for each student, for 100 students in a single week, for as little as $73 each. If you prefer a smaller class of twelve students, the cost remains competitive at as little as $105 per student, including the training and reference book. And with GetOpenOffice.org, your students can stay on-site while the instructor comes to them, instead of needing to go to another training facility or travel out of town.

The rate for instructor-led on-site training is $900 per day for up to 12 students, and $1100 per day for up to 20 students. This flat rate covers the training as well as extensive training materials for each student. Travel expenses are added to this cost: $1800 per full week of training or $3200 for two consecutive weeks of training.

If you have a site license for unlimited onsite printing, training is discounted.

Classes are six hours a day, usually 9-12 and 1-4. From 4-5 you are encouraged to bring up specific problems, ask for assistance with converting, or any other assistance.

On-Site Training Package
With the on-site training you get more than simply the convenience of staying at your location while the instructor comes to you. Training includes one or more workbooks for each student. The workbook provides step-by-step guidance through learning StarOffice or OpenOffice.org, and is a valuable reference after training as a reference.

Remote Training
Remote training will be available soon; send an inquiry if you are interested.

What's the Training Like?
Solveig teaches fun, interactive, hands-on courses with an emphasis on making sure that the students not only retain what they're taught, but that they have "learned to fish". This means that they know how to look up topics in the books and how to use the StarOffice and OpenOffice.org help. Group learning activities are also used to ensure that the students explore their own thoughts on the software and learn from each other.

"I can personally give very high marks for the book and also for the OO training! Solveig did a great job for us with our week long training for our users. We had 4 - 1 day "QuickStarts" and a 3/4 day of more "Advanced" stuff. Great job all the way around. Everyone I spoke with regarding the training has indicated that you have done a great job. I do not hesitate to give my recommendation for your training."
~ PJ Welsh, Cassens Transport, Edwardsville, IL

Training gives users the knowledge they need to use the software, and comfort with the change. Users who started the day apprehensively leave GetOpenOffice.org training with comments ranging from "That wasn't so bad" to "This is so much better than our old software!" to "I'm so excited my head's going to blow off!"
